  1. I have the Nutcracker on LXT 2611 matrices ARL 901-1DR/902-2DR. Think maybe I have not given this recording the attention it deserves.
Must say the information gleaned from your Blog is invaluable.

  2. That will likely date from late '54/1955 if the matrices are in the large-typeface (also being an RIAA transfer). Surprisingly, this only appears to have had Japanese transfer last year (presumably from LP..?). *This* transfer is rather impressive!

  3. Wonderful - this Nutcracker recording has been a long-time favourite, and what a relief to hear it in such fine sound compared with my battered copy. A thousand thanks.

  4. Thanks for these files:definitly among the best versions I ever heart !
Will you post Les Sylphides as well?

  5. Hello Centuri. Testament published most of the Desormiere's - but I like these ACL issues... The intended posts, given time, are: Sylphides (not issued by Testament) coupled with Sylvia/Coppelia & the superbly-recorded Ibert Divertissement/Les Biches - with possibly the CD-unissued Bizet 'Patrie' (National SO - on 2x 78s) - I don't have the Scarlatti 'Ladies' - & the 'Caucasian Sketches' wasn't issued in the ACL series.

  6. Phenomenal transfer and a great performance! But first file clipped at end. Maybe I should download the first one again?? Thanks.

  7. Hello Oscar/Eddie. I've just downloaded the FLAC/WAV of Suite 1 ('file one'?) and can't see any 'clipping' (neither in the waveform - or the file-length - which should run to just over 21:16")...and the files derive from the same Audacity edit before it's saved.
I could run the files through again on the laptop - as I've noticed that (depending on the original surface) I previously could miss up to 2 tiny 'ticks' per minute - 'unheard' on the main editing system (nor are they likely to be audible on a HiFi.

  8. Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a while, and am just now catching up with some of your recent contributions. Thanks so much for your well chosen and transfered choices! Keep up the wonderful work!

    Best,

    Neal

    1. I now would prefer to be 'out of the loop' myself; especially as the 'not on CD' LP category continues to diminish: so time for a rest? (as also seem to have thoroughly plundered eBay over the years: and there's not much point in having 'all that [HiFi] gear' - and then scarcely using it - 'due to lack of leisure-time'.

But nice to see you back in harness, yourself!

  9. My problem is that I have a huge backlog of projects that are sitting on various hard drives in "raw" state. So, I need to get working on those. But there are quite a few that are finished, but I want to present them decently with at least a few intelligent words of introduction, and then there's the issue of the expired files that need to be re-uploaded (and to which service?!), and an ISP that caps me at 150GB per month. But I guess it's better to have TOO much to look forward to do and hear, as opposed to not enough, eh?

    Cheers,

    Neal

    1. I am reminded about intended uploads due to the backlog of SCANS: but the almost 4hours (+/-) of my time each LP is likely to take-up puts a dampener on too much progress: 'automatic de-clicking' seemingly being a no-no for such material.

I skip any thoughts of 'considered introductions' to the discs, as reviews/biographies are available on-line: and are, mostly, less necessary for LP-era material...and the sleevenotes also render musical comment somewhat superfluous..

Potentially, MediaFire might be at risk of a Feds-Bashing: but, with larger file sizes, due to FLAC/WAV, people do require some decent download speeds: which Sendspace seems not to provide (at least for me): hence my WAV files tend to be more popular..and increasingly so in any event...but, if MediaFire was closed-down, then I would never again re-upload the material: Problem Solved !!!
