  1. Thank you! It's wonderful to have this in such a good transfer, considering the usual Concert Hall hollowness is embedded in the original recording. Could you have a look at perhaps doing the two Bach LPs which Andre Marchal did for Ducretet? They haven't been done anywhere and would be great to complete his discography. Thanks! George

    1. Ironically, UK-pressed Concert Hall Mono were Philips UK mastered in typically cleaner/better sound - but all stereos seem to be Swiss Turicaphon metalwork.

However, in decent sound, (to be uploaded) is Schuricht's 1964 Paris Mozart Sym.36/40 (despite the Swiss stereo matrices) - the 'Linz' being very fine performance/sound.

Was quizzed about Ducretet/Marachal in 2011 and scanned this cover -also have a CH (SMSC 2447) of Bach @ Zurich Grossmunster -but think the pressing had 'issues'..

  2. Thanks for the cover. There was this one and also a 10" on Ducretet. Both were never on CD. They'd benefit from your gentle treatment.

    1. I don't have the 10" (just the lovely Granados-Tonadillas/Milhaud-Scaramouche in that size).
The CH Marachal/Bach would be transferable (some internal warp) - with CD-RW I just use my everyday SME Series III/ADC XLM II -and somewhat immune to such 'effects'..
Oiseau/Ducretet/Argo were investigated for the blogs early-on so not certain how good the pictured LP is; likely 'mint' but no guarantee it was perfect to start with!
Was tempted by this Schuricht as began playing the 5LP Munchinger box - new/never played - from 1975 - and considered the initially tried Suite 1 (1961) totally to my requirement in terms of performance+recording. Recently did a teensy re-edit for the 2012 post including Suites 2+3 from 1949/50.
      Will do the Schuricht/Mozart first!

    2. BTW - glad you found the transfer here OK - though the Suite 2 remains rather turgid (inc.the Flautist..). I was wondering if my 100+ yo Columbia 80rpm laminates of that (with Murchie/LSO/Harty) might sound better!
