Thank you again, as always. I've noticed several of your postings don't allow comments - is this done on purpose?
ReplyDeleteSometimes I restrict the whole lot!!
DeleteTypically the only ones (no comment) are those here that carry a link to the other blogs - as those posts get replaced by more recent ones: and as 'comments' are so few - and precious.. - I don't wish to delete them ..
Aloha, Thank you for your excellent blog of preserving these great performances in a true fidelity manner
ReplyDeleteI'm been wearing my ears out listening to these wonderful classics ever since I found your blog.
Thanks again.
If you please, may I have access to your collectors corner? Tried to find your contact to send a private email but you are well discrete!
Thanks for your kind comment!
DeleteI was not very happy with the BBC Sound Quality (this is why it's only as 16-bit) but saw comments that the ALP was better than the 1979 World Record release.
The Collectors Corner was 78 transfers - I've never been too happy about the results - especially as they are all taken from noisy UK Shellac - but did only transfer using top-class equipment - with original Shure 78 Elliptical stylii for one of the V15/III's.
All the posts are still on the server - but suspect you might be 'frightened' by the dynamics/clarity.
Some files are copied/cloned on YouTube - the Tchaikovsky Symphony 5 / Landon Ronald (1928) for example - but in lesser quality (sic!!)...it gets better asfter a few minutes!!
Thank you for your great transfer of Beecham's gem Sibelius 2.
ReplyDeleteHello Elliot...well...I'm slightly Mystified why this has been downloaded in the <several thousands !!
DeleteI had been meaning to upload the original pressings of Barbirolli/RPO and Monteux/LSO - but settled, last year, on Sargent/BBC - which I thought was better (certainly sound-wise) than this - so people could compare (the Sargent never 'officially' on CD).
Have 2 copies of this: the first came from a "Gramex" sale (around 1987) and the original sticker (overlaid many times) was £50 - got it for £1.50.
(something like the SXL/Oistrakh/Horenstein would be priced @ £3.50 (20% off 'for cash: there was no till!!)...that's now a '$1000 LP'....)
