SAGA XID 5237 1964 Mono: no stereo issue ('dry' acoustic - & the sound is a bit/more 'hair-shirt' towards side-ends)
Minimal '1.3' de-click now applied Not on CD Sleeve-note >>>
Thank you...have never heard this piece of music before.
ReplyDeleteA|t least it's "Real Music" !
DeleteIf I hadn't disposed of my original stereo SXL, years ago, would've uploaded the Munchinger version (though there are many 'versions' of this composition) - especially as it was a very early stereo.
Didn't really need to 'de-click' this - but Saga LP's always had some slight 'noises' that the software will eradicate - and it was originally rather a 'trebly' recording - so no real harm was done.
Hello, I think a great offering. Are you able to upload the Munchinger version?
ReplyDeleteSold it for some filthy lucre (possibly not enough!) now quite long-ago..
DeleteBTW...the original SXL matrices were retained for earliest pressings of the SDD reissue. Have lots in that series - but not that one..
Had eventually intended transferring my new Brandenburg 1956 LXT 2-disc reissue- but a recent bizarre accident 'impacted a hole' in one disc - right through the sleeve, etc - from a dropping piece of perspex sheet.. so not happy about that... and the original Munchinger Bach/Grosse Fugue LXT is impossible to transfer (never on CD..)..
Only re-uploaded this as it would otherwise have sunk-without-trace....and it's 'sort of worthwhile'..
Thanks for you efforts Tin Ear. Do you have the Munchinger/Gabrieli/Runnett on DECCA SXL 6441 UK 1970?
DeleteWell - I steer clear of Copyright stuff - and have never had that LP (no longer have the JC Bach, either) but, weirdly, have it on cassette (don't laugh..some are good - I've 600 pre-recorded's + a near similar amount 'off-air') - and a dozen decks - including the top Beocord's - 8004/9000 - JVC's/Akai's.
DeleteIt's on 'Ditto' DTO 1061A as 'Venetian Fantasy' - also 'discover' I've a Dart/B.Neel O. from 1956 (OL50129) - Geminiani/Scarlatti/Corelli on DTO 10192B.
I could do a private transfer (have just checked it on an Akai GX-52 - and it's perfectly OK for 'quality' if you are interested/desperate...
Goodness, that's the old Pickwick double cassette series, and how I became acquainted with the recording in the first place. If you could do a high quality transfer from tape and see how that sounds, that would be much appreciated. I am also on the lookout for any DIAL records featuring works by the Second Viennese School conducted by Rene Leibowitz and/or Pierrot Lunaire on Westminster. Rare as hen's teeth it seems !!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason your comments don't get forwarded...
DeleteI was going to transfer the tape and place the link here - but it's a bit of a non-starter (aside from the Bees-In-A-Jam Jar-Strings and a trace of the 'underwater' effect - as the oxide is clogging the tape head within a minute or so - and the brightness/volume vanishes..
Doubtless W.A.Chislett, in the Gramophone, said it was 'as good as the LP' !! ...but you've cleared-up the 'Ditto' bit - though I never bought pre-recorded - someone spent nearly 3grand on what I have!
Re: Dial - no; had a query (you?) some 4 years back - but that material never found its way to the UK..
Great!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
