I'll give these a try, always love your offerings. Thanks so much,

I am a fan of both artists. The Mozart works were wonderful to listen to.
ReplyDeleteAgain, cant thank you enough.
Ferris is a violinist I admire. Assume the Eclipse is"electronic" stereo.Have you converted them back to mono,or left the recording in stereo mode?Either way I am looking forward to hearing it.
ReplyDeleteI believe LXT 5036 is Bach. A Musical Offering conducted by Munchinger.
No: these are GENUINE stereo tapings. I used to have the Bach Musical Offering (which I rather liked) - but sold that - which was also issued on SXL.
ReplyDeleteThe Liszt is marvelous, thanks!
ReplyDeleteGrover is absolutely right. The Liszt is indeed marvelous and a huge surprise for me. The clarity that Munchinger obtains is simply stunning. So often, these Liszt tone poems become muddied due to the rather thick orchestral texture. Not here! What a pleasant change!
ReplyDeleteFred - I think so too - though you need a bit of patience with Hamlet. But a rare LP - the 1973 Gramophone/EMG reviews weren't at all complimentary, though the previous 1956 Munchinger LXT was recommended for performances/sound !! I've recently mentioned two more mono KM LPs I'd upload - but was wary of uploading the Liszt/Mozart - as the mono Vivaldi 4 Seasons was relatively 'unpopular' when offered on the original Google Group some 2years ago.
ReplyDeletethe two Liszt symphonic poems on this set are the highlight for me.

Totally surprised by the Liszt. The Orchestra is hard to believe.Have not yet listened to the other items. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly good playing/performances achieved by Munchinger; but never heard the other two, mono only, Liszt's (Mephisto + Prometheus). Will, sometime, upload more Paris Conservatoire's. The 1948 Munch/Tchaikovsky Sym 6 is rather good - also sound-wise (as is Munch's 1962 Boston SO 'Dynagroove' performance..).
ReplyDeleteThanks - Jerry
