Very Quickly deleted LP (replaced with 1953 recording of Dichterliebe: LXT2875) NOT ON CD Sleeve-note / EMG review >>>
Souzay - 1956 French Opera arias ( Fabulous performances + immaculate 1986 Dutch vinyl ! )
Grand merci pour le partage de cette belle interprétation. Votre transfert est bien fait.
ReplyDeleteL’effort nécessaire m’a presque épuisé !
DeleteThank you for this rarity!
ReplyDeleteIt's near-bonkers to try editing to acceptability such early Decca vinyl - but I've not compromised the sound.
DeleteOther early Decca that might tempt: 10-inch LX's - Magaloff: Liszt sonata (1951) & Griller Qt: Haydn/Mozart (1952) both not on CD - nor a Schubert song (D300) in a Souzay LX (1957: by that date pressings had improved 'somewhat').
Thanks for these records. Your collecton comprises a lot of valuable treasures and your transfers are (mostly) splendid. Thanks again.
ReplyDeletePresumably this is one that sounds less than splendid: in which case I can blame the LP!
DeleteThank you very much! From what publication are the critical notes?
ReplyDelete'EMG' is the E.M.G. Monthly Letter. Have a complete-run from January 1947 (when the new-format was introduced - Hubert Foss being the editor) to Mid-1980 (when they went bust - retail shop in Soho) then Beecham Trust to mid 1986 - (only missing July 1967).
DeleteDuring the first decade reviews were more extended (fewer records issued).
Got most from eBay (cheaply) + Ronald Taylor's shop/house in London.
Don't think you'll find them now!
