      Added this as SAGA transfers hereabouts are now listed in the fascinating, new, Saga discography (CRQ editions/Philip Stuart)..and for the Contributor responsible for the Russian material recently - and so popular in Japan..

      This Saga isn't the best sound of the lot - but luckily had a decent pressing (c.1963)- it later got 'stereo'd': threw that away.. Had a request for some more (Shostakovich, mainly).

    Thanks again Frank. I think I bought this when it appeared (Saga were priced perfectly for schoolboys) and I'm pleased to make its acquaintance once more. It may still be lurking somewhere in my haphazardly filed collection.

      I sort of promised Mr.Stuart there wouldn't be any more SAGA hereabouts: but there's the Faure Shylock, etc - culled from Hamburg sessions - that's decent. The Saga discography is downloadable (*free) http://crqeditions.co.uk then 'books'.
      Mr Sanders is transferring some (not free!) including an interesting Strauss LP ( XID 5270 ) - have as new 1966 LP - pressed from 1958 stereo Urania metalwork.

      Been too cold to do anything for the past week...

    Hello there.... The heading on your page indicates Anosov as conductor of the Russian Overture, but the LP indicates Ivanov. Is there information from another source indicating that Anosov is correct? Thanks

      The 'other source' is Philip Stuart's new SAGA discography mentioned above (*free) http://crqeditions.co.uk ...then 'books' ) which should keep you entertained for a while: absolutely hundreds of LP's you'd never consider worth buying!

    I think you've started a meme Frank: when you posted that Rimsky and Glazunov there was little out there. Now they're popping up all over the place. I note somebody claims to be disappointed that Glazunov isn't more like Scrjabin. Mmm, music doesn't work like that.

      In terms of the 'net I must be missing lots: didn't know what a 'meme' was..
      I'm trying to build some backlog of files as invariably they are 'just in time', but the Russian material is very convincing (though some didn't get the hang of Piano Concertos) although the above items seemed a bit 'weak' as compositions. As almost nobody ever asks for material (ie contributors) I'm faced with lots of potential LP dubs - which then are left behind as CD's get released: so it's the case that there must be some merit in any old copies...can't be bothered to chase-up various comments about particular CD Transfers being inferior, as I assume most are!! I'll see about the ALP Cantelli Franck (my first edition '55 copy) as part of some items from that vintage (the Hindemith 10" is as dire as I recalled) as am only missing a couple of the original Cantelli HMV (for example); and Solomon (Piano) reissue material consistently seems inferior to original HMV - so do wonder how decent CD issues are...
      Trust you liked the bundle of ASD R-K/Glazounov - I surprisingly got no additional requests from other contributors..........so sometimes 'wonder'...
