Slight de-click + Re-EQ. Another splendid Not on CD performance...
EMG review/sleeve-note >>>
Disagree with the reviewer - the particular way the 1st movement is played adds to the 'romantic' character of the performance. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhile i'm sure your transfer is the best possible from the LP it's too bad the pressing isn't better quality...this would certainly 'deserve' it!
Thanks a lot for sharing this.
As mentioned... don't have ACL277 (1966 re-issue) - and wouldn't normally consider transferring 'near-prehistoric' vinyl: unfortunately I only have this copy - 'near mint' - but this was still available until 1962/3 on this catalogue # - presumably with a few more masterings subsequent to this 1950 'attempt': which sounds good for its vintage.
DeleteStill - won't bother with my original Chigiano Shostakovich/Boccherini LXT's....
i see - too bad as this is obviously a group that has a real feel for the music - and quite an obscure one! Probably not one to be issued on CD anytime soon.
Delete'Forgotten Records' has a transfer of the Dvorak + Brahms Pf Qnt (LXT2687) @ €12.90
Deletehttp://www.forgottenrecords.com/en/Quintetto-Chigiano--Brahms-Dvorak--274.html
However, they do not specify matrix info (in fact, can't even quote the Decca catalogue series correctly): so the Dvorak could be the Same transfer as mine.
You can also see that this Jap 'LXT collector' only has this transfer @

- and doesn't quote the matrices used for ACL277...and I don't have the 'stereo' version on Decca Eclipse (with the Shostakovich).
