  1. Thank you for this transfer. I can't wait to listen to this after I'm done downloading the files. This would be perfect Christmas-day listening… heck, it'd be perfect for the whole year.

    1. You have divined my intention!! (any 'Christmassy' LP's I may have are scarcely listenable-to @ Xmas....and Menotti's 'Amahl' - excellently 1958 Decca mastered - is far too corny (creepy?): I'd rather listen to Sparky & The Magic Piano...)

Also thought this would be interesting to compare with any CD-edition (or these US LP's for UK 'subjects') - and may have time to upload the 1938 Gigli/La Scala from new MfP's; but this version is Nonpareil - and any disappointment I'd read of the orchestral direction may be due to less analytical transfers - compared to this??

  2. The Beecham Boheme - a real classic performance - the best for me. Many tks.

    1. I'd almost forgotten 'the particular reason' why I decided to transfer this (Xmas now seems long-ago)!

The advantage of these original RCA LP's, though, was the excellent detail - and exciting sound - which meant that the performance really 'comes to life'.

    2. hello there!
i was wondering about the correct cover-art for the björling recital.
RCX 155 is an EP and features all but the puccini & ponchielli
LSC-2570 is an LP which features this exact programme on its b-side
i just cannot find RCA SB 2011 as mentioned above
      kind regards!

    3. Drat !! - it was a typo that I didn't see - it's SB 2021 - the correct cat.# was in the EMG review that I'd scanned!
Google Images show a few pics - my cover scan of the HMV ALP sleeve only turns-up as a Boheme Beecham search - @ #3.

    4. hi once more :)

sorry for being a nag - it's just that i am a little more confused than i was before: the SB 2021 is the rca cover for the cavalleria as referred to in the EMG.
the extra that came with this boheme post is however not the cavalleria but the björling recital (i tried the bottom cover code from EMG but THIS didn't produce any results) that's why i was wondering whether you had a cover for it. i don't expect your björling is from the shaded dog 2570 because there are 2 flac (side a & b presumably)

    5. And here's me thinking things (aside from this 'odd typo') hereabouts are/were easily understood.

I'd transferred the Beecham 'La Boheme' from the original RCA matrices/pressings - but didn't have the box for that - so used the HMV ALP cover.

Additionally, I transferred the Bjorling recital from (UK) RCA SB 2021/2 - where it is on the 4th side: the reason for those 2 files is the side tracks are split in two - the 2 lines of the listing here show how I divided that side!.

If I had also transferred the Cav.Rusticana then it would be 'obvious' - and I didn't...all the relevant info is in my listing..

If you had done a Google Image search for the >> SB 2021 << I quoted then you would see the sleeve-design...there are 3 images...the first is a later pressing - mine is the original (next 2 images).
