Excellent clean sound ....mildly 'tickly' surfaces.

Terrific posting. I was unfamiliar with all of these Czech performers. I was particularly impressed with the bass Eduard Haken, the sopranos Milada Šubrtová, Eva Zikmundová and the mezzo Vera Krilova. But it is all great singing. Thank you.

    1. Think only a track or two have made it to CD.
Only know Tichy's conducting from Smetana's 'Brandenburgers in Bohemia'; bought that in '75 (returned the 1st LP - old matrices used: hopeless faded sound..) but Blachut/Zidek etc turn-up frequently on their opera sets, etc - Blachut was at the end of his career (sounds old in the Neumann-conducted Janacek 'Mr Broucek' of that date, ditto) - and the Czech women are rarely to my taste!
Supraphon LP's are invariably hit'n'miss for sound-quality/LP transfer - especially Stereos of this pressing date...so this isn't typical..

    1. The 1964 EMG review mentions Onegin (in German) - but not listened to Kegel's 1965 Eterna LP to hear if it gets slaughtered in that version!
