    1. This got a transfer from the US Angel release on Symphonyshare some time back (not heard) but this should be better. Presumably most of the box contents are Not on CD (except Sym.3/Svetlanov)? The Khaikin 1st is really rather good (composition/sound)- the recording is less 'sultry' and overblown: though Ivanov is superior to the unstable CSO/Gould RCA performance. Ansermet sounds pretty impressive as the 1954 LXT - the ECS is allegedly genuine stereo (Decca's Roy Wallace's claim) though sounds 'faded' by comparison. Not a convincing composition though!

  2. Many thanks - can't wait to hear this! The whole boxset looks rather enticing, M. Shostakovich and Rozhdestvensky!, i don't suppose you have any intention of doing the rest? :) (Gould's Rimsky-Korsakov recordings that i have didn't make any kind of impression on me.)

    1. There's more Glazounov + Khaikin's R-K 1st that you can ask for (privately) - will do the remainder later, if I get a contributors request, I suppose; eventually to add to the Glazounov's below. These are 99+% finished files. There is more R-K: Svetlanov's Scheherazade ASD 2520 + 2 overtures (V.Good) ASD 2490.

  3. On behalf of the "happy-to-do-my-small-part" crowd, thanks. If this had been issued on the US Angel label, I doubt it would sound anywhere near as good as an HMV. Having been exposed to far too many Angels for my better nature to handle, I would suggest they should have just named the label "Demons" instead and saved people a lot of time discovering their infernally noisy pressings. Cheers!

    1. Hello Richard, If your PP address isn't a dead-letter box there's an updated list of Glazounov/Rimsky files! Currently available (24bit) G2/3/8 and RK 1/2...G4/extras next (+, if requested, more RK).
Unlikely to transfer some Fedoseyev/Rozhdestevensky (G5/6 - 1/5) though the Sax Conc may be interesting (pics below) - also have a jazzy Not on CD Supraphon (pic here) of that..
