  1. Just finished reading it, watching the old masterpiece theater TV series and now this. Thanks!

    1. My only other radio Dickens is a 2014 "Barnaby Rudge" - probably due to such material getting heavily cut/serialised with some daft acting (just a few here). Have '100's' more plays: those with Anton Lesser are invariably good.

  2. Thanks so much for these, there is so much material that the BBC broadcast but never repeated or reissued in any other kind of format. It's just the sort of thing that should be on the BBC store, but I am hearing rumours that this is going to be closed down. Thanks firstly for recording this and secondly for making it available to us again.

    1. I certainly agree there: much valuable material just drops into a Black Hole. I've Anton Lesser in some other non-repeated plays ('Fatherland' was on CD/my 1998 tapes sound possibly better!) ie: Edward Bond: The Sea 2000 (far superior to the later R4 version) / de Musset: Lorenzzacio 2002 and lots more from a similar period (unfortunately lost my earlier tapes; though hadn't recorded for a decade). I'm (obviously) rather nervous re: Copyright material, but would upload some if there is an interest (it's also far-less time consuming than editing LP's!!!).
