    1. Not too sure about the first mvt. - but, as mentioned privately, this LP isn't overly analytical - so some detail probably doesn't register. A couple of years back intended uploading with Mravinsky's 12th - on HMV/Melodiya.

  2. Performance IMO competes with others (Previn incl.) - most enjoyable, if one can live with the disappearing percussion (not unusual for early Soviet rec.). At least the microphone levels aren't played with too much. Thanks for doing this, Frank - a new performance to savour.

    1. Don't recall ever listening to Previn's #6 - despite having 2 copies: have his others (except the #5 re-make) - mostly not too keen when compared with Russians.
Western Melodiya transfers can sound vaguely 'processed' (ie: was just comparing Rozhdestvensky's 'Nutcracker' - original 1961 'Torch' stereo's to EMI's SXLP).
The percussion on the Mravinsky #12 is pretty spectacular - even compared to the later Kondrashin (both ASD).

    1. The Anosov side didn't get much of a recommendation (his Supraphon/Prokofiev 7 was one of my first uploads) but could check if it's worthwhile.
The UK isn't the best place to find mono Melodiya - I've very few, and mostly sound downright awful (the Amirov on the PRISTINE blog being an exception) and when HMV issued the stereos (have a lot) only a few are non-copyright - always a consideration.....
