ReplyDeleteI've played this to the near exclusion of the PJBE Argo LP (which I don't recall sounding 'identical'; although that is the Howarth arrangement).
Maybe, one day, the BBC will enable access to some more of their archive recordings?
The Argo recording of "Pictures" is available on CD as part of the very generously-filled 2CD PJBE Greatest Hits. Their recording of Weill's Dreigroschenmusik is also a favourite of mine.
