The Novak are a fine quartet, like many East European ensembles from that period.
ReplyDeleteDon't have the Prokofiev,so definitely give that a listen, especially no.2 a favorite.
Do own a Novak Bartok set from the same source VEB/Philips Chamber-Music Series, bears up superbly to repeated listening. Also love the mono Dvorak on Supraphon you mention.Makes a welcome change from the "American"!
'Missing' that Bartok set: but no idea why these weren't (also) on CD as they're such excellent performances! .
ReplyDeleteQuite a few Supraphon/Dvorak's turned up in a nice/late '70's Rediffusion 4LP box - including op.61 - on one side. .
One old Decca/Dvorak St Qt (op.51 - Boskovsky Qt - LXT2601) amazingly still hasn't been reissued - though I might charge for that one.....
Hello - I've enjoyed downloading the material you're posting. People tend not to be thankful for work one does (I noticed it when I did research many years ago). You should leave this material up as monument to your work and derive satisfaction from that. If people are downloading so much, it proves your excellent in choosing and presenting posts - Jerry
